Busy, Busy me...

Album of the moment: The Black Keys -- "The Moan"
Raw, gritty, rocking, soulful, neo-blues from two young white guys in the states, that sound like 60 year old black men. Fan-fucking-tastic shit. Vocally reminiscent of a mixture of B.B. King and John-Lee Hooker, toss in some Motor City 5 and Jimi Hendrix and you've got "The Black Keys". The best song by far, for me, is "No Fun" HIGHLY enjoyable.

Hello again, lovelies!

On top of the emotional disasters occuring daily apparently in Glamazon shoe turf, what with losing a dear friend and such which I'm still remarkably sad over, attending my Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary last night, and trying to sneak in a few hours sleep; I've got scads of homework. So an apology in advance is in order.

Posts might be few and far in between for the next week, as I've got a gathering of friends memorial, and then a funeral to attend, possibly before the end of this coming up week, as well as all my finals for first term due Monday through Friday. After that, however, it's gangbusters. I've got two weeks off, time to collect my thoughts, and I promise another review!

I swear.

Much love.

Linds.

Answers, Answers.

I promised, and so I follow through. If you haven't read this post, then you might wanna. It really doesn't matter.

1.) If you had any Dream job, (or several dream jobs) what would it be and why?

i) I've always wanted to be a DJ, spinning and scratching records in a club.

ii) I've always wanted to be a professional Jazz Singer, which I've been told I could achieve easily, but I despise the noteriety and fame attached with musicians, valuing my privacy more.

iii) I've dreamt of being able to own my own restaurant down in New Westminster in this picturesque location that utterly captured my imagination with it's brick inlaid alley that serves as a patio, whitewashed brick walls that scream to be painted with a mural, twinkling mini lights wrapped around white tall slender birch trees, and deep, uniquely designed, romantic looking dining room. I wanted to create the perfect dining atmosphere for romance.

2.) If you could live anywhere, where would you live? What type of residence would you live in?
I'm an urban girl by heart, and though I love nature, I miss the hustle and bustle of the city life after about two weeks of being away from it. Perhaps on the edge of the city, or depending, right in the core of downtown. I love to decorate, so sorry if these get a bit detailed.

i) "Cute, quaint 'Bronx' style" Two level classical walk-up loft apartment in a brick apartment building, brick walls, left the natural dark tones that they gather when they age. The balcony recessed and surrounded by bricks, that have been covered in ivy over the years. Perfect for remaining cool and content while reading a novel, sitting on the balcony with music playing in the background. Furniture is clean and contemporary, classical jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, Billie holiday, etc. done in a hand painted realistic style in the main living area. Greenery everywhere, from ferns in pots, to miniature palm trees growing near the huge windows. Kitchen is spacious and has stainless steel appliances.
with paintings in an art deco style, reminiscent of the 1920's with lovely, tall slender ladies attending the bar in their gowns in the upstairs bedroom section of the loft; the bed being huge and begging you to dive into, a white duvet, a million soft pillows, and sheets of 800 thread count egyptian cotton, in cream and sage green.

ii) "Modern dynamo": A swank 3 bedroom condo in the Downtown core, surrounded by life and a scenario that never becomes boring, with a view that looks over the mountains and the water. Clean, crisp lines, sage green and cream walls, with earth toned accents in accessories, dark mahogany furniture. A dream office loaded with Apple and electronic goodies. Perfect for contemporary living.

iii) "The Family Missus": A 4 bedroom, Den and office, middling to large sized semi-Victorian style house, filled with light from many windows. A wraparound balcony. Sage green siding and cream trim, the balcony done in dark mahogony stained wood, that trait continuing in the rest of the house. Huge master bedroom with a full on bath suite attached. An 8 person whirlpool hot tub and a small pool in the back of the house is a must, as well as a pool table and game room in the fully furnished basement. Soft, inviting furniture that tries to eat you when you sit down in it, perfect for reading a book in by the fire, with a cat on your lap, drinking hot chocolate in the wintertime, and equally as stimulating for creativity, the office being a vertiable electronics playground. Lighting is tasteful and sedate, enhancing relaxation and mood. Unique, tasteful, colourful art on the walls. The garden has a waterfall, grows Jasmine in the summer, and Stargazer lilies in October, Daffodils in the spring, Ferns and Roses all year round, (quite a few of them should be "sunrise" roses.) Ivy climbing up trellis' in the back yard. The house should be filled with laughter, heard quite frequently all day long, welcoming friends into it, as a place to relax and be social, as well as being a haven for privacy when they are not there.

Yes indeedydoo, I've got preferences haven't I? Hey, it's a dream house, let me describe it to perfection. I wholeheartedly admit, I'm a hedonist, and yes, I can be quite materialistic. Such is Moi. I'm an atypical Taurus and love to live in style. I want somewhere I can live in comfort, but still be close to the ones I love, who shall invariably live with me... I hope. Either that, or my cats will. I also want an environment that stimulates creativity. A place where my friends can stop by for a cup of coffee, or a shoulder to cry on when they need to be heard. These would be a marvelous places to live.

3.) If you could meet anybody, alive or dead, fictional or realistic, who would it be? What would you ask them?

I would love to meet Ella Fitzgerald and ask her what the deal was with her and Louis Armstrong. You know something had to be up, right?

4.) What's the first thing you notice in someone of the opposite (Or same, if that's your bag) sex?

With men: Voice, eyes, haircolour, face, hands. and then the rest.

With women: Voice, eyes, lips, smile, face, haircolour, hands, and then the rest.

I have a fetish for a nice set of hands, and a wonderful voice.

I must confess, yesterday I talked on the phone for the first time with my pen pal in Aussie, and I spaced out because he had the most amazing DEEP voice and sexy aussie accent. I don't really remember what he said. *blushes* Sorry Andy.

5.) If you could play any instruments to perfection, what would it be?

I would love to play the guitar as well as B.B. King, the Piano the way that Aretha Franklin or Ray Charles does. Effortlessly, and filled with soul.

6.) Do you believe in soul mates, or having the perfect partner?

I'm disgustingly romantic, so yes, I believe in soul mates. However, that being said, not just one for every person, there are many many people that are a match to my soul, but only one that I would be happy with for the rest of my life.

7.) When you're lonely, what do you do to console yourself?

Write, Cry, seek out my friends, who are always there for me. So if you read emotional garbage in here every once in a while, it's usually because I'm lonely.

Come to think of it, that happens pretty often.

8.) What are two food items that you would consider "comfort foods" or ones that remind you of your childhood?

Chocolate, but that's a given. My mothers Lasagna, or her Shephard's pie.

9.) Who was your very first best friend?

It's a toss up, There's Matthew, who I knew when I was younger than five, but I don't remember more than that I played with him every single day, and that we were inseperable until he moved. There's Elizabeth, but our friendship has been through twists and turns, I've known her since I was in Kindergarten. There's Aiden James Varga, and if he reads this, or googles his name, I want him to send me an email, because I miss him terribly, and would love to rekindle a friendship with him.

10.) When you were a child, did your parents ever marry you to a little girl/boy because it was cute?

Yes, My parents married me to Matthew, when I was four. However, I think that was because we asked them to. Sorry boys, I've been living in sin and apparently cheating on my husband for the past 20 years. Whoops.

11.) What simple stupid thing annoys you beyond measure?

When people sit next to me right before my stop on the skytrain. Annoying, Yep. Stupid? Very.

People that have the hems of their jeans stuck underneath the tongue of their shoe. Annoying? Yup. Very stupid? Yes.

12.) Whats the most embarassing thing that has ever happened to you?

To quote Devin, "Hooboy."

Here goes.

When I was 13, I had a crush on this guy named Blair Andrechek.
I went to the park one day with my friend Nita, and coincidentally enough he was there too. I decided to show off that day by jumping off the swings in front of him from a spectacular height, and land on my feet, unphased, in front of him. sure enough, I did, and in the process, my button up shirt snagged the 'S-hook' on the swing and my newly developed 'girls' were left bold and breezy in front of him. He was agog, I was humiliated. I ran behind the nearest tree, and to this day, I can still hear my friend Nita laughing so hard she was crying.

Granted I started laughing too, but fuck, that was soooooo embarassing.

I run into him all the time, and I think he still remembers, because he blushes quite a bit.

13.) What do you consider your favourite colour? Your lucky number?

Blue, (any shade of it) Sage green, rich browns, pink, (and I hate admitting that) a combination of metallic red and metallic cream, right next to each other, and black, of course. (but that's a shade, and not a colour.) Lucky number? I dunno. 7 would be such a typical answer, but according to numerology, I think I'm a 1.

14.) If you could sleep with any person, who would it be?

Celebrities: Ewan McGregor, Harrison Ford (but only in Raiders of the Lost Ark)
Real people: Devin, Dean, Cryptic.

15.) Gold, White Gold, Platinum, or Silver? (Or does it matter?)

White gold or Silver anything. Real yellow gold looks fake to me.

Questions, Questions.

Curiosity killed the cat. Anyone that wants to answer, go right on ahead. My answers will be within the next few days. (Probably tomorrow.)

1.) If you had any Dream job, (or several dream jobs) what would it be and why?

2.) If you could live anywhere, where would you live? What type of residence would you live in?

In Memoriam.

(Editors note: This post has been edited since first written, now that I'm more cohesive.)

A good friend of mine that I've known since kindergarten, (over 19 years) died yesterday in a car accident.

As far as I know, he was a pedestrian crossing the street downtown, that got hit by a careless cement truck driver at the corner of Seymore and Smithe. (Coincidentally enough, that's mere blocks from where I used to go to Karaoke almost every Friday night.) I just found out about twenty minutes ago, and after my tears had subsided, but my grief most definitely has not, this was the best I could do to honour his memory.

The world is a less brighter place without Noga in it.

I feel the worst for his five year old daughter, who will grow up having difficulty remembering her loving father, his sister, who loved him immensely, his brother with downs syndrome, who adored him and looked up to him, that Noga always treated with love, respect, and a gentle heart, and his parents who are wonderful people.

I regret turning down the offer to go have coffee with him and Elizabeth, my old room-mate, who has known him since she was in diapers, last Friday. That's what stings the most for me. I had the opportunity to see him, to give him a hug, to tell him I was proud of the who he had become, and how he raised his daughter up to that point, but turned it down because I had too busy of a schedule with work and homework.

There will be quite a few sad hearts and tears shed tonight amongst my friends. Elizabeth is devastated, my girlfriend Crystal, who told me, called me in sobs, and I'm a mess myself.

Life, is such a bitch.

I'm pleading with both pedestrians and drivers, to be more careful when crossing the street, and driving your car in heavily populated areas. Please, don't let someone get hurt or die the way that Noga did.

If I have to miss a day of finals next week for the funeral, I don't care. I'm going regardless.

I'll miss you, sweetheart.

Rest In Peace.

I've Been Told... (A Brief)

I should write erotica more often. The only thing stopping me from publishing it in here, is that it's often exceedingly hard-core sex, and it's very difficult for me to separate myself from it. I'm usually not willing to divulge that much about my sexual preferences in here, but if you ask nicely I'll try to write a piece that goes down hot and wet.

Soooo...

My birthday is just around the corner. I'll be 25 on May first. A milestone year, or so they say. (I'm sure it's not going to be spectacular, considering how much shite I went through being 24.)

That being said, If anyone feels like getting me a present that I will never forget, and that will be quite useful, check this out. (I would LOVE the 3rd from the top, on the left hand side, and if you're feeling generous, the 3rd from the top on the RIGHT hand side. That would rule.)

This is going to get technical, and probably bore you to tears, but it's worth mentioning.

That colour system, my darlings, is the smartest thing an ink manufacturer has EVER done. Pantone has monopolized the market on ink and colours by creating these books, that have become design standard for printing press inks, because the inks are the same formula everywhere globally, thusly you can make the EXACT colour you want simply by following the 'recipe' for that colour. (They also neglect to mention that they cost an arm and a leg.) My Design Communications instructor, Ivana has one of these, and brought the thing in to show us what the Pantone Colour System is.

For a beginner designer like myself, unless I took out a mortgage on my LIFE, I couldn't afford those. Plus, it's got that neat-o Pantone colour detector included *FREE!* with the kit. Please. I've gotta pay 600 bucks Canadian for a veritable gay pride banner of colour swatches attached by a Chicago screw!? You better damned well believe that laser color detector is included and shipping and handling is free, You evil design dictating motherfuckers.

*Le sigh.* A girl can always dream. You know I'm obsessed with design, when I'm asking for Pantone chips instead of a Dairy Queen cake. Frig. I'm getting old.

Hey, If I can't get to go see "Spamalot" then I might as well ask for something useful. I've already SEEN New York City anyways. Although, that does mean I could stop by the Italian district in Manhattan, and get a slice of that pizza that haunts my ever so savory dreams. (Seriously. Best pizza EVER.)

Hmmm. One thing at at time, girly. But to be honest, I'm going to be a millionaire before I'm 50. I swear.

So, A Nazi, A Jew and The Pope Walk Into... What? Bad timing?

Album of the moment: Ween-- "Quebec"

Yeah, the title has nothing to do with the entry, I just thought it was damned funny.

At this particular moment in time, I'm so fucking fed up with doing homework, that the thought of doing more is quite honestly, repugnant. NOT TONIGHT, SEZ I! I've opened up a few programs, only to stare blankly at the screen, thinking *I'd rather write an entry, than work in illustrator/photoshop/indesign for one more second.* So, that being said, here I am.

Boy howdy, I bet you missed me, eh?

I'm tired. How are you?

I slept in again today, and my diet at this point in time requires SO much caffeine that I'm worried for my health. Knowing that I need to drink coffee, until my fingers vibrate, (Which usually ISN'T a bad thing) and eating whatever my Grandma makes for me to sustain my level of 'alert' which is rapidly eroding under my feet. Thank gad she cooks, otherwise I'd be living off of take-out crap, and whatever junk food I have stored in 'the dungeon'. Most people in class right now have gained about ten pounds because they sit there, eating, trying to regain that energy they had before the final crunch of term, knowing that they need that get up and go, which has unfortunately, left the building.

The allure of sleep, is much more enticing than the notion of sex, and THAT, dear friends, is saying something about my state of being. Even if I WAS to partake of that delightful carnal carousing, I'd probably fall alseep mid-"Who's Your Daddy" and that, poppets, would suck.

I mentioned that I got a job, Yessss indeedydoo, I'm doing minor design work, and consulting with Chris, a friend of mine that I met through The Jewish Princess. Starting rate is nice, but it should go up once he gets some more clients. Apparently he's quite impressed and I designed exactly what he was asking for after a five minute brief discussion over MSN. Granted, it took me an hour and a half to actually MAKE what he wanted, but I grasped the concept and created what he was looking for.

Today during our meeting after school, I had the opportunity to show him the other stuff I've been doing design wise. He said that my History Of Design/HTML final assignment was gorgeous, and considering he works with webdesigners/Graphic designers all day long, I'm really happy hearing that from someone in the industry. (My final assignment is my "History Of the Romance Novel Cover" website, done in a very subtle tongue-in-cheek style for those of you not in the know.) I will have that up and running online, once I get it finished to my satisfaction.
The link will be posted in here as well as it being put in my portfolio for design.

He's flat out stated to me the fact that there might be a huge increase in business for his company, and that he thinks he could toss quite few jobs in my direction. That's a relief, because the notion of being unemployed for the first time in almost six years of steady employment had me mildly depressed. Okay, terrified. I admit it.

Anyways, I want to crawl into that big soft bed of mine and become happily entangled in my sheets, and myriad of pillows.

And if the post was too long for you, tough titties. It's coming in spurts now (Ew, and at the same time, I'm mildly aroused.) and this is the best it's going to get until I have some sleep under my belt.

Ack!

I WANT to write a full on post that isn't gibberish, but I've got no time, blast and damn!

Cursed FINALS!! I promise a real post REAL soon!

*kisses n' stuff*

Elle.

Oh, oh oh! Before I forget! (You know, that brain like a sieve thang.) I got a job doing design consulting for 20 bucks an hour freelance on the side. More on the weekend. I just made 30 bucks in an hour and a half playing around in Illustrator designing a logo for a mortgage company. Sweet!

"That's enough, Donkey!" (Entertain Yourself With My Meandering Ramblings)

I haven't watched Shrek since New Years Eve. (Yeah, I know, terribly exciting, but hanging out with Crystal and eating tons of chocolate beat the pants off of going out and paying 100 bucks easy, for a night out on the town when I'm single.) I've got the song that donkey sings running through my head ad nauseum.

"I'm all alone, there's no one here, beside me..."
In that mournful little Donkey voice that has been immortalized by Eddie Murphy. The lyrics suit my mood right now, being tres crotchety, stressed the hell out from school and the finals accompanying it, my business partnership and the pressures from everything needing to be done, (coincidentally enough RIGHT at the last two weeks of my term) fiscal stress and always in the back of my mind, I'm missing Devin heaps. That's all irrelevant. I just want to get the damned song out of my head, pleeeeease!

Quick someone start singing nursery rhymes, or that annoying tune from Lambchops Play along that I used to sing as a kid to drive my parents nuts. Yeah. I was a little shit. Some of you should know which one I'm talking about.

"This is the song that doesn't end, yes it goes on and on my friends. Some people, started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever JUST because, This is the song that doesn't end..."(Carry on until said person you want to annoy gets driven insane.)

I read somewhere, that when you have a song stuck in your head your brain is actually repeating the song over and over again. Not just a portion of it but the entire thing, at warp speed.

Creepy.

It kinda makes you wonder exactly what else your brain does subconsciously, that you can't control. Do you really turn into a psychopath in your sleep like I do? (Just kidding!!) In all seriousness, that's like my question to people that have English as a Second Language. Do you think in your native language, or do you think in English? I've asked this question before and no one bothered to respond here, but fellow students of mine tell me that they have a commingling of both languages happening in their brains. That's pretty neat. It also makes me wonder, if you really thought about it, do you think in your own voice? or is it a thought that sort of carries the same tonality, and personality behind your voice? All these questions are too deep, pretty frivolous, and it's obvious to me that I'm just typing for the sake of procrastination. Damnit. This is the kind of garbage I usually force into the recesses of my deep, dank cranial cavity, letting them stew and fester. Blah. I'm rambling. Fuck, whatever. Now it's just getting to the point where I'm having fun with my vocabulary.

"That's enough, Lindsey." Yeah, I did it. I went and parted my trench coat, exposing my full first name. Just remember, only my parents and Devin (who often calls me by my whole name, middle names and all) are allowed to call me that. Everyone else calls me Linds. (I'm sure you'll all thwart me by abusing that little bit of knowledge now, won't you, just to irk me.) I hate my full first name, My dad chose it, and nothing against my Daddy, but hell, he could have at least chosen the female spelling. Apparently my twin sister and I shared the same middle names. How original. No, unfortunately she's not alive anymore, she died when we were born. That being said, I'm sad I don't have a sibling, I really wouldn't mind knowing what it was like, but what would the world do with two of me? The men in this world wouldn't know how to react. With my luck she would have been thinner, prettier, smarter and more favoured in the family; with me remaining chubby, less pretty, awkward, and disgustingly upbeat mingled with cynicism. Fuck, I even drive ME nuts. Then again I'll never know, with her being dead and all. (Ooh, that was in poor taste. Sorry Abigail.)

Lindsey: From a Scottish surname which was originally derived from a place name meaning "Lincoln's wetland" in Old English. Male or female usage. (I've also read it described as an Irish Surname, meaning "Little River Flowing By Rocks" and by far, I prefer that one over Lincoln's Wetland.)

Great. Either I'm marshland, or a little river. Right now it should be "babbling brook", not "little river".

Going on that "Little River..." Description, my full name (including my two middle names and my last name) means "Little River Flowing By Rocks To Protect The Bitter White Sea." that's one mouth-filling nominative. (Why don't I just call myself "The Artist Formerly Known As Linds?) That beats the hell out of "Dancing with Wolves." (Not that there is anything wrong with that...)

I'll just stick with Linds, Thank-you very much. I honestly don't care if you call me Lindsey, well, I do and I don't. Just use caution, there's a lot of power in a name. (Or so they say.) Being called Lindsey, often reminds me of being in shit by my parents, and is usually said in a rather exasperated tone, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.

I've got to have dinner and do my homework, which I've been studiously avoiding so far.

Good Gawd. What sort of crap was just dribbling from my head? Apologies. (I'm going to post it anyways though.)

Okay!

So, the new template is up and running. Please feel free to tell me if it sucks, but I rather like it.

From a graphic designing perspective, (albeit a designer in training, but still...) it seems much less crowded, and has a cleaner presentation. From what I've been told by my teachers, minimalism with a touch of style is my bag, baby. This shows it much more than the old layout.

The archives are still in old Glamazon Shoe format, which is unfortunate, but perhaps it will change, since blogger is slower than molasses on a winter's day at times. Lo'd only knows that they still haven't updated my profile since October. *hrmph.*

Patience Grasshopper...

Change is not necessarily bad. I must keep on telling myself that.

I'm seeing what my blog looks like with different templates, so needless to say I'm a little nervous changing formats. Sorry if it seems fucked up, I'll have it in tip top shape in a few days.

fOr tHE PeOpLE ThAt USe StIcKy CaPs...

Album of the moment: Horrorpops -- "Hell Yeah!" (Fuck, she's hot.)

You should all be shot.

What a fucking annoyance. I don't want spend ten minutes trying to decipher what the fuck you're trying to say because you've abbreviated all the words, replacing real ones with single letters and numbers, and then gone and jumped from caps to lowercase in some sort of spastic fury.

Sorry to break the horrible news to you, but it does NOT look cool. You just come across as someone TRYING to be cool.

That is all, You may go.

Idle Hands Are The Devil's Work...

Sometimes, I find stupid shit to do, so I don't have those idle hands. I'm such a nerd, that HTML is the way I went about it.

If you have the patience or the interest, and care to read any of the music reviews I've done prior to the most recent, I've gone and created a 2 new sections in the sidebar of Glamazon Shoes, (Which is getting quite crowded. I might change my template soon to accomodate them.) of past and current reviews. One section being the new "Music Is my Heroin... Tunes To Groove By" series, and the old, not as detailed, "Tunes To Groove By." Just for you, my lovely readers, to save you from frantically searching my archives to find the ones I've done previously.

Sure. That's it.

Neurotic and I are still working out the kinks as to what exactly our dual contributor blog is going to be about, but since his music reviews are spectacular, and mine ain't too shabby, we're thinking of going off in that direction.

Now we just need to go template shopping, pick out some flatware, and a nice pattern for the china. *smirks*

Hey, for all Y'all that live in areas that require moving your clocks an hour ahead, don't forget tonight's the night. That's all you're getting for my public service announcements.

Oooo! New Music!

I spent a goodly portion of today with my once boyfriend, now very good friend, Erik.
(I've got a pretty good track record for staying buddies with the ex's of mine that I haven't had a horrible relationship with.)

Erik, has an extensive collection of Music. It puts my paltry 250-some odd albums to shame. He's got over 1000 albums that range from some of the most obscure Punk rock and Noise that I've ever heard, the grooviest funk, to some of the BEST new blues I've ever had an eargasm over. He's also got an extensive trivia base of all the artists he has albums by, and quite a few artists that he doesn't. Again, ranging from completely obscure, to the common stuff played on the radio. Right now I'm listening to "The Black Keys".

"10 A.M. Automatic"
(Click to hear! Go ahead, I know you wanna!) is one of the amazing songs I've heard done by them. I also like "Heavy Soul" and "No Fun". DAMNIT! I wish I had about 20 more songs done by these guys. They're phenomenal. Raw, gritty, soul-filled blues. They're just two young white guys, a drumset, and a guitar. The lead singer is 23 years old, and in some songs, he sounds like an old black man who's had every sad thing happen to him to make him sing that way. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference just from listening. These guys ROCK.

It should be obvious by now, that I'm a whore for chocolate, but where I would grumble and be mildly suicidal over a lack of chocolate; I would be absolutely miserable and curl up in a ball in the corner killing myself by sheer willpower without my music. Yes, I'm controlled by my whims. Deal with it. My addictions are pretty self evident, being Devin, chocolate, nicotine, music, technological gadgetry, shopping, writing, food and sex. Except for the first one in the list, they are not necessarily in that order, but at least I'm aware of them, and deal with them accordingly.

Erik generously let me raid a small portion of his album collection, and stuff my laptop full of some hot new music. He's so good to me. It's also awfully nice when some poor sap keeps their wireless router going without having a password needed to access the 'net, letting me just pop stuff into iTunes and click import, having Gracenote do all the work instead of typing in the track information piece by piece. Miso happy! I love having Airporter on my laptop. I also got to cuddle his supersoft, lovely affectionate kitty, Ripley, who adores me. (Or so it seems. She hangs around my ankles an awful lot.)

It's FREEZING cold here the past week or so, and where I was mentioning how surprising the weather has been in February, April is being a nasty little bitch. I want summer here now, please. I'm tired of wearing my winter jacket, I miss my tank tops.

Ahoy Hoy! (A Brief)

Friday, at last. Hallejulah. Praise Jeebus.

The end of term is looming abysmally close, and I'm not even NEAR finishing a few of my projects. *Le Sigh* Such is the life of the sleep deprived, but I'm wholeheartedly going to attempt to finish production on the three major projects that are due by the 15th of April at the very latest.

Nerve wracking, to say the least, but the thing that keeps me going, is knowing that in 31 days, I'm going to be in Dallas, giving myself and Devin a much appreciated break. Well, I hope a break for him. He needs it.

Speaking of 'needs'. I also need to win the lottery. That'd be great.

Apologies for the weak content in this post, I'm a busy, busy, naughty girl; and I'm sure you guys will spank me for it later. A girl can always dream.

Things I've Never Noticed Before... (A Brief)

Today, unlike most days, I forgot my novel at home on the way to school. So, instead of being immersed nose deep in Mercedes Lackey, iPod on full blast, effectively blocking out any sight/sound, ( unfortunately, I can't block the SMELL of some of these people, Since I HATE people on public transit.) I actually had to pay attention to my surroundings while staring out the window, and I noticed a building on the way towards Main Street Station.

Now I certainly don't think this was deliberate since that area of town is a very concentrated Asian community, but damn, do I ever wish I had my camera at the ready as I zipped past. The building was titled "Hung-Gay Food Enterprises." (number 32 on the list. Yes, these places DO indeed, exist. I'm not making them up.) Brilliant.

That ranks right up there with "Pho-Bich-Nga" (Just say it phoenetically.... You'll get it.) A Vietnamese restaurant on the corner of Victoria and Kingsway in Vancouver, that my friends and I shout out the name of amidst laughter whenever we drive past it on the way home from the bar. (I admit, it's rather politically incorrect, but when you're drunk, lots of stupid stuff is hysterically funny. Hell, I think everytime we drive past it we yell it out. Drunk OR sober. I need no excuses. You would yell it out too, it's fun. Try it! "PHO BICH NGA!") And "Super Lucky Hair 2000." (Also on the list, it's number 5.)

Ooo, I could say SO much, but I won't. I can't blame them for having a mediocre grasp of the English language when some syllables aren't even included in their first language most of the time. I can give them an A for effort, but that was too funny to not write about.

Right now, I should be doing my HTML homework, but I'm comfortable in my grey sweats, kickass huge grey fleece Old Navy sweater and "Chicks Kick Ass" slippers.

I Sold My Soul To Hershey's...

And I signed the contract in chocolate syrup.

Argus was torturing me today on MSN during my Design Communications class, bragging about his conquest of the local supermarket and the subsequent arrival of 7 chocolate bunnies in his shopping cart at ridiculously low prices. He was bragging about how "gooooooood" it tasted. He's the only guy I know that would squeal like a schoolgirl for chocolate. (And bloody hell, that's adorable, coming from a man that looks as dynamite as he does.) Damn him for being an expressive writer, and knowing exactly how to make chocolate sound irresistible, and damn him for making me imagine his body covered in chocolate and licking it off of his skin in long, sl...OH!

Are you guys still here? Shit! Was I writing that!?

Uhm... I mean... Aw, hell. Nevermind. *looks around sheepishly* Ahem...

Anyways, moving right along.

Argus reminded me, since apparently I'd forgotten that heaps of chocolate is practically FREE the few days after Easter, and I hadn't exploited that fact as of yet, foolish chit that I am.

At the end of class, I walked past Rob in the hallway. I told him I was going to go buy out the selection of chocolate that appealed to me. The poor guy didn't grasp that I was serious. Six half-pound bunnies, two GINORMOUS bags of "Eggies" two Reese's pieces carrots and three chocolate covered egg-shaped marshmallows later, I think he caught on that I was for real. (Not to mention looking at me askance in horror.)

Keeerist, man. I'm not going to sit down and gorge myself on bunny bits. That should last me a two, maybe three weeks at the very least.

That being said, I've already decapitated a bunny, and BOY was it good. Granted, I gave my Colour Theory teacher Heidi a bunny as she walked past me in the parking lot, and also gave my Uncle Jean one when he stopped by about 15 minutes ago as compensation for driving out to Annecis Island from Mission day in and day out. (Not for his kids, it was for him and his wife... Or just him if he's greedy. Whatever. His chilluns sucked back the stuff they got on Sunday already, most likely.) The look of bliss on his face was enough to make me giggle.

What is it about horrible, WONDERFUL cheap chocolate that appeals to the majority of us? (In my opinion, if it doesn't, your one sick, sick puppy.) Why, am I a slave to my craving for this shite? (I LOVE the good, 70% cocoa dark chocolate, for anyone that feels like sending me a very appreciated gift... *hint-hint*)

It appears to be that all of my friends either online, or in real life, are chocoholics, and I'm the leader of the pack. (Okay, probably not, but I do have chocolate in my room/office at all times in case of emergencies, as do most of my friends.) I believe I have a picture of Ryan lying on his back, from a few years back on Halloween, where he dumped his pillowcase on top of him and he was COVERED in his little candy treats.

I've come to a conclusion, that Chocolate isn't just an idle pleasure for my friends and myself, it's a necessity. Judge as you will, think it frivolous, but oh man, that's the shiznit. I'm such a happy girl right now with all this chocolate around.

Pondering... (A Brief)

I've been contemplating asking someone to join me in creating a secondary blog, with two contributors. Perhaps more than two contributors.

The person that runs through my head on a regular basis, is actually Neurotic Monkey, who's writing is GREAT and always makes me think. Not to mention that smart men turn me on. That being said, he might shut me down like a virgin on prom night. So, If anyone is interested, send an email along my way.

Music Is My Heroin... Tunes To Groove By Version 0.9

To the Billy Idol Fan club message board, and all the controlling individuals that stifle opinion and creativity, Fuck off. Other than the removal of the album cover, the entire article is staying EXACTLY as written.

Artist: Billy Idol

Album: Devil's Playground

Genre: "Rawk"

Let it be known, that I LOVE Billy Idol. Or rather, I loved that pissy little shit that he used to be in the mid 80's, when "punk" was in it's heyday, and Billy Idol was in his late 20's, slender, scruffy, fairly attractive, with that lovely sneer and snotty attitude that was choice for the "bad boy" lover in all of us. Yum. As much as Erik harasses me about having the hots for Billy Idol, screw it. He was deeeee-lish, and I'm not apologizing for my opinion on that.

One of my all time favourite songs is "Dancing With Myself" because who DOESN'T like a song about masturbation?

Flash forward 10 years. When, I suppose, the royalties from his album sales have dwindled, and he's spent his money on what seems to be an ample amount of plastic surgery and time in the tanning bed. Sure, his sneer is still there. However, I think the Botox for his forehead, and collagen for his lips (I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Angelina Jolie would be envious.) makes it a less... Well... Snotty statement. And now he just looks like a cantankerous 40 year old longing for his years back when the chicks were sucking his dick ad infinitum, and the cocaine was probably what kept him so energetic. (Boy! You've got stamina!) Ah, the mid-life crisis. Couldn't he have just bought a sports car or gotten a 20 year old wife or something?

No, Mr. Idol decides that since his fame has petered out, to return to the world of music and ATTEMPT to release a new album. *sighs* I wish he hadn't. The only thing that sucks about writing my reviews, (and I normally enjoy this part) is that I have to listen to this album AGAIN.

The album starts off with "Super Overdrive" the title sounding like some sort of bad Japanese anime-style comic, and SOUNDING like a rip off of The Rocky Horror Picture Show sung by a musician who used to scream death metal. No. I'm sorry. Wrong on all counts. Do not pass go, Do not collect 200 dollars. Go directly to jail.

"Rat Race" sounds like a ballad that the new "Neo-punk" (see: shite) groups out lately would produce compositionally, but this and "Scream" are probably the closest attempts vocally at sounding like he did in previous albums.

"Plastic Jesus" apart from being quite amusingly titled, is atrocious lyrically. Sexually laden lyrics that are absolutely crass. (Coming from me, that's saying something.)

"Scream" this is probably the closest to seeming like his previous stuff compositionally and vocally, and also the song released to radio stations as his first release from the album. I think the reason why is to fool the majority of listeners into thinking that this album could quite possibly be decent. Boy are they good at pulling the wool over us dumb consumers eyes.

"Yellin' At The Christmas Tree" Uhh... 'Nuff said. The title alone, could make tears come to my eyes from laughing so hard. What the hell were you thinking?

"Devil's Playground" Compositionally, it's not too shabby, sounding like something Rob Zombie would put out. (Yes, I enjoy that stuff at times.) However, the pithy attempts at sounding "Badass" are relegated to references to Satan (which linger like a particularly malodorous egg fart throughout the entire album, even in the love ballads.) scratchy, forced screeching, and TRYING to laugh like a demon, but sounding more like 'The Count' off of Sesame Street. It's pure, unadulterated cheese.

"Lady Do Or Die" Billy Idol goes Country. Garbage. I've been known to belt it along with the Dixie Chicks and Toby Keith every once in a while, as well as owning music done by Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, so I'm no Country music snob. Perhaps it would come across as fairly decent, if he wasn't attempting to bring back his former image, and then slapping this oddball song on the album.

I know that I usually only review albums that I love, but I figure tossing in a few junkers every now an then would be a nice change of pace. I don't recommend purchasing this album, I want my 18 bucks back from Virgin Records.

At least I've got a new coaster for my coffee.

Out of a Glamazon Shoe Rating of 5 shoes, I give Billy Idol -- "Devil's Playground" a rating of 0.5/5 shoes.
